We could start this like every other adoption bio, but we’re going to skip the fluff and get straight to what matters: Aloka is an extraordinary dog.

He was previously known as Great Tony at ACCT Philly, where he was timestamped simply due to length of stay — not because of anything he did, but because the city shelter was doing what it can in an impossible situation with too many dogs and not enough space. We are incredibly grateful we were able to step in and save him, because the truth is… this is the kind of dog people spend years hoping to find.

Aloka is about 55 pounds, a brindle beauty and genuinely sweet and stunning. His tiger stripe coat is so striking you can’t help but stare at him. But what makes him special isn’t just how beautiful he is… it’s who he is. He’s joyful in a way that feels rare. He’s dog-friendly, playful, and has that big puppy spirit — he loves toys, loves people, loves attention, and seems genuinely excited just to be included in the world. There’s something so pure and good about him, and it makes perfect sense that he was named after Aloka the peace dog. His name means “light,” and he really does have that kind of presence — the kind you feel the second you meet him. His ideal family is one that wants to love him fully — the kind of home that spoils their dog, lets them be part of life, and truly enjoys what it means to have a best friend. He loves everyone he meets, but he is still bouncy and enthusiastic, so he’d likely do best with older kids (he could accidentally knock over little ones in a moment of excitement). He is a no cats guy, but he does great with dogs and would be thrilled to have a friendly dog friend in his forever home — though he does not require a dog friend in the home! Aloka is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog. We saved him just in time, and now all he needs is the person who meets him and instantly understands: that’s my dog. 🖤✨
